Podcast Topic:
SUBMITTING TO CHANGE

If you’ve ever faced anxiety and depression like I did, you know one of the greatest struggles is our ability to look at external forces as an explanation for our pain rather than seeing what has to change in us.

Actually, that’s true with nearly every hurt, habit, hang-up, or sin issue we experience in life.

After we ask God to help us examine ourselves and confess what He reveals to us, real transformation can begin. That transformation comes from submitting ourselves to the change God wants to make in our lives.

Celebrate Recovery uses 8 Principles* to help people connect with God and find healing from whatever’s holding you back in life. The idea of being transformed by God is exemplified in the fifth principle.

PRINCIPLE 5:
Voluntarily submit to any and all changes God wants to make in my life and humbly ask Him to remove my character defects.
“Happy are those whose greatest desire is to do what God requires.” (Matthew 5:6 GNT)

In the first few episodes of  The Journey of Healing podcast series, we discussed how to start seeking God in our lives and how to examine those lives. In part 6 of this  Brookwood Church Care Ministries podcast series, we’ll discuss what it means to submit to God’s desire to change us and how to take those steps. As always, I’m joined in the audio selection below by my colleagues, Doug Wildman and Gene Beckner as we discuss submitting to God:

<SUBMITTING TO CHANGE AUDIO>

God calls us to partner with Him in a relationship as we heal. So when we’ve asked God to remove an unhealthy desire or heal something from our past, one question we can ask ourselves is this:

How has God transformed your life and removed your character defects through your submission to His will?

I’d love to have you share in the comment section below.
