What does it mean to have victory in Christ?
Has it ever felt like Satan had a foothold in your life? Has he robbed you of your peace?

You have to understand that Satan has been defeated. He has no power over your life that you don’t give him.

When Jesus died for our sins, he also gained victory over our enemies. Consider this passage from the book of Colossians:

“[God] canceled the record of the charges against us and took it away by nailing it to the cross. In this way, he disarmed the spiritual rulers and authorities. He shamed them publicly by his victory over them on the cross.” (Colossians 2:14-15 NLT)

When man walked away from God in the Garden—when the enemy deceived them into building a rift between them and God—the Father was not surprised. Jesus was not surprised. They had a plan to bring us victory from the beginning.

And immediately after the fall in Genesis 3, the Father essentially tells Satan, ‘You may strike their heels… but I’m sending a Messiah to crush your head.’

We’re incapable of closing the gap, but Jesus Christ is not.

God was never going to let the rift between Him and His children stand.
So stop standing on the other side of the rift!

Christians need to stop walking through this fallen world defeated.

Yes, there will be struggles.
Yes, there will be trials and grief.

But you can choose to walk through those things in defeat, or you can pursue Jesus and walk through them with hope!

Jesus said:
I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33 NLT)

The victory is not coming—it’s already come!

When John talked about evil spirits and the world coming against us, he said this:

But you belong to God, my dear children. You have already won a victory over those people, because the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world. (1 John 4:4 NLT)

Are you feeling defeated today? Maybe you’re so entrenched in your own fight that you can’t see that the larger battle has already been won. The enemy is in retreat, but you can’t see it because you’re so focused on the battle right in front of you.

Look up! Victory is here!

The cross is the answer to every stumbling block.
It’s the answer to every struggle.
Because every attack against you was settled at the cross.

And when trials come we can cry out with Paul:

No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us. And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:37-39 NLT)

You are completely victorious in Jesus Christ! Every accusation against you was nailed to the cross. And when Jesus cried out tĕlĕō from the cross—when He said, “It is finished,” it wasn’t a cry of defeat. It was a cry of victory we can carry into every battle.

Stop walking through life as if the battle hasn’t already been won.

Are you tired of feeling like the world is swallowing you?

You don’t have to. You can be completely victorious.

No matter what your past was—no matter what your struggle is now, God wants to give you victory.

How have you experienced Christ’s victory in your life? Tell us in the comments below.
