Serving God |
It is possible to serve a ministry, program, or church without a real relationship with God. It’s even possible to do good acts of charity without giving God a single thought.
Many people who serve in a church would say they are “serving God,” but what is our motive for serving?
It is impossible to truly serve God until we have been transformed by Christ’s healing power and have experienced an intimate relationship with Him. Otherwise, our service will be based on selfish motives, obligation, pride, or guilt.
The final stage of a healing relationship with Jesus Christ is the ability to yield yourself to God for service, allowing Him to use your life to share the Good News of His saving grace and healing power.
In this final episode of The Journey of Healing from the Brookwood Church Care Ministries podcast, I’m joined by fellow Care Ministries pastor, Doug Wildman to discuss the last of eight principles* used in Celebrate Recovery* and the Landing.
PRINCIPLE EIGHT:
Yield myself to God to be used to bring this Good News to others, both by my example and my words.
“Happy are those who are persecuted because they do what God requires.” (Matthew 5:10)
What is your motivation for service? Have you been transformed by Christ?
I’d love to have you share in the comment section below.
