Now that we’ve celebrated the resurrection of Jesus Christ, how will it affect our lives this Monday, or next week, or the rest of our time here on earth? How do we move forward from Easter now that we know He’s conquered death and will return as King?
Philippians 2:9-11 describes what that return will look like:
Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor and gave him the name above all other names, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue declare that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Philippians 2:9–11 (NLT)
What does it mean that every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord? What does it mean for our lives today–especially after we reflect on the glorious truth of Easter?
A few weeks ago, I was honored to share on this topic as we closed out the FOLLOW series at Brookwood Church. I would encourage you to download the message outline and discussion guide as you watch the video above. If you’d like to learn more about Christ’s nature of being fully God and fully human, I would also encourage you to watch or listen to the first two messages in this series delivered by J. C. Thompson.
If you truly grasp the weight of Christ’s sacrifice as a human being and the depth of His glory as God, you cannot help but be changed.
I would love to see your comments and questions in the comment section below.
Thank you for sharing this.
You are very welcome, Priscilla. I would have shared it sooner, but I thought this message was a good thing to reflect on after Easter as well.
